         A Little about me

Sailing, like most things started off as little hobby!! :) Now this little hobby has evolved into something so much more. I have always enjoyed my time on the water. I grew up on powerboats, spending most summers on the Colorado River with Family, All I knew was 0-60 mph with a twist of the wrist... Wasn't until a trip down to that British Virgin Islands, April 2006, my wife and I bareboat charted for the first time, a Beneteau 36, Ever since I've been hooked and now its 0 - 6 kts maybe, and this only after raising and unrolling hundreds of feet of canvas :).. I bought my first sailboat shortly after returning from this trip (A Lancer 25' on a trailer), yes a "Trailer Sailer" :) Making hundreds of trips pulling this boat to and from the local lakes, Bays and Harbors. There I would erect and secure all rigging, launch the boat and spend hours, in some cases days on the water, reading, studying and teaching myself the basics of Sailing. Because buying a boat on the water was such a commitment at the time, I felt this was the most practical way to start out. After 5 years of the trailer Sailer experience, I decided to take the plunge and purchase Javelin.  she's a 1971 27' Ericson (sloop Rigged), a remarkable pocket cruiser built with strong bones. It didn't take long, the miles added up under her keel.  Day trips turned into Catalina trips which turned into channel island trips etc... I've had Javelin as far north as Santa Barbara during multi week sailing adventures. Because the majority of my time at sea is solo, it was important I learn all I could and become Perficient in all aspects of boat systems, navigation and Seamanship. Solo Sailing is amazing, and in a way therapeutic, but when you only have yourself to depend on  KNOWLEDGE is key.. Mixing in some club racing with Marina Sailing and After completing my  ASA 101-105 courses, Logging hundreds of hours on local SoCal waters I decided to pursue my captain's license, to me it only made since. I have been sailing our local southern California waters for over 15 years now. This really is a sailing paradise, with relatively calm and predictable waters, it is a great place to expand your knowledge and build your confidence at sea! I am eager to share my knowledge and empierces with you..   Lets GO Sailing!!
